Job Overview:

The Senior Process Engineer will lead small studies or projects and will be responsible for producing process design packages specific to ethylene based projects. The ideal candidate should have a technical expertise in ethylene process technology along with expertise in other areas of a given technology. They will be responsible for scheduling and estimating the work effort and will advise and mentor within the department in order to contribute to the improvement of a technical area

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Performs detailed process design calculations and process design simulations, prepares equipment and instrument data sheets, prepares process flow diagrams, and prepares piping and instrument flow diagrams
  • Trains subordinates in the use of process tools and procedures
  • Leads various activities related to the process design of specific process units and supervises work efforts on small projects and proposals
  • Reviews design work of subordinate process engineers as delegated by the lead engineer
  • Participates in start-up and technical service field assignments as required
  • Performs other assignments as required
  • Responsible for leading small projects or studies, as well as areas of larger plant projects or studies
  • Ability to supervise team members and to advise and mentor in areas of expertise if necessary
  • Fosters Innovation
    • Creates new or existing technology improvements (i.e., patent)
    • Creates new or improved work processes for better execution efficiency
    • Publishes or presents a technical paper at an industry forum
  • Presents at conferences and trade shows, customer meetings and internal presentations
  • Clearly articulates technical knowledge to others including colleagues, management and clients
  • Actively involved in professional organizations and continuing education initiatives
  • Takes initiative in making decisions within established procedures and guidelines
  • Provides leadership role when guidance and expertise are required
  • Works with industry groups and has a working knowledge of industry specifications and standards
  • Uses the principals of Quality as an integral part of the work process including CMS
  • Leads continuous improvement of technical and work processes
  • Maintains a record of creative contributions
  • Opinion is sought in area of specialty
  • Recognized expertise in at least one technology

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering minimum requirement
  • 8 - 10 years relevant experience preferred
  • Expertise in Process Engineering- Ethylene
  • Ability to travel and go on field assignments
  • Proficient in all engineering computer tools
  • Ability to plan and execute work with minimum supervision
  • Good engineering judgment
  • Good supervisory and scheduling skills
  • Demonstrates initiative in problem solving
  • Minimum supervision received
  • Proficient in all areas of process and systems design tools and procedures including CMS and provides input when needed
