Job Overview:

We are looking for a PrincipalProject Engineer for the McDermott location in Tyler, TX. The idealcandidate will be responsible for all matters pertaining to the project and theexecution of that project in accordance with the contract and the projectsHSSE, quality, quantities, schedule and financial goals.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for all deliverables of the work produced and is accountable to McDermott Management and to the client for the project teams performance
  • Responsible for management of all phases of small projects and management of all engineering for larger projects
  • Must be familiar with and manage work to seven baseline documents: Contract, Scope of Work, Execution Plan, Schedule, Estimate, Business and Profitability Plan and Risk Management
  • Ensures work complies with McDermotts business and legal policies
  • Manages client expectations
  • Protects the company from unnecessary risks
  • Serves as a focal point for client communication
  • Participation in the sales process by providing input during the pre-contract effort
  • Having a complete understanding of the Contract and the as-sold scope of work and communicating them to the project team
  • Establishing and communication of project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within the boundaries of corporate policy
  • Works closely with the client, McDermott management and project leads and provides direction and coordination of all project team members
  • Preparation of internal and external project reports
  • Representing the company and the project at all meetings
  • Manages projects with contract values up to $10 million
  • Has bottom-line accountability for the financial and technical success of small projects and responsibility for technical, schedule and productivity aspects of larger projects
Basic Qualifications:
  • Prefer a BS degree
  • 10 years experience
  • Prefer domestic and/or international experience as a Project Engineer in a global EPC Company
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of lump sum turnkey business model a plus
  • Should have a broad technical knowledge including construction and engineering processes, procurement, materials management, project controls reporting and contract management
  • Must be able to positively and effectively communicate with client and project team members, as well as all levels of internal management and staff.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office skills Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Willingness to travel both internal to the USA and International
